Originally recorded in 1968, Arias by Verdi and Donizetti begins with a selection of arias from four Verdi operas - Luisa Miller, I due Foscari, Un ballo in maschera and Macbeth. This is followed by arias from four of Donizetti’s operas: Lucia di Lammermoor, Il duca d’Alba, La Favorita and Don Sebastiano on the album’s second side. 
The recording contains arguably some of the most natural and perfect singing of Pavarotti’s entire career, complemented by striking cover art reflected in the new yellow vinyl.

When we talk about The Three Tenors we refer to a popular operatic singing group, consisting of Spaniards Plácido Domingo and José Carreras and the Italian Luciano Pavarotti.

Although classical artists usually perform in concert halls, the Tenors sold out a succession of stadium shows around the world throughout the 1990s. The trio began to collaborate with a performance at the ancient Baths of Caracalla in Rome, Italy on 7 July 1990. The recording of this debut concert became the best-selling classical album of all time and led to additional performances and live albums.

Their second televised performance was four years later at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, and it was viewed by 1.3 billion people. They last performed together at an arena in Columbus, Ohio on 28 September 2003.

The concerts were a huge commercial success, and were accompanied by a series of best-selling recordings, including Carreras-Domingo-Pavarotti: The Three Tenors In Concert (which holds the Guinness World Record for the best-selling classical music album).

The Three Tenors repertoire ranged from lavoro to Neapolitan songs and pop hits.
